Agriculture

landbouwIndia is a mainly agrarian country. Three quarters of the populations lives in rural areas and 65 percent of the population works in this sector. It also contributes 20 percent of the national income. However, India is facing major challenges. Agriculture is developing at a high rate of primary production to an integrated industry. The market for processed food in India is growing by 13 percent. Since the liberalization of the retail industry is investing heavily in food processing, cold storage, logistics, distribution and food safety. These developments provide opportunities for Dutch companies with local partners to develop systems and products for the Indian market. This strengthens the agricultural sector in India which will lead to an increase in export of agricultural products to our country.
