Watermanagement
Traditionally, the focus of the water management sector has been on the agricultural sector, which includes irrigation, drainage and flood control.
Agriculture comprises 93% of demand for water resources. Momentarily the water sector is in crisis. Insufficient institutional organization, low capacity at implementing institutions, need for overall action plans and the need for improved water policy and legislation are some of the most important challenges to be met in Vietnam.
The Dutch expertise and know-how is already implemented in Vietnam. More specifically, consultants, water companies, suppliers and governmental organizations are already present in the country. The Vietnamese government sees the Netherlands as an attractive partner in water management, since it is regarded one of the most sophisticated countries when it comes to water management.
